Chris, from SimpleEmbedded, wrote in about his step-by-step tutorial on installing msp430-gcc on a Linux machine.  Texas Instrument’s and RedHat’s msp430-gcc recently popped out of beta, with support for all MSP430 microcontrollers which enables you to go beyond the code-size or time-limited versions of Code Composer Studio(CCS). The GCC toolchain includes the GNU C compiler (GCC), the assembler and linker (binutils), the debugger (GDB), and some other tools needed to make a complete development environment for the MSP430.

If you are new at configuring and compiling a compiler, this tutorial will certainly come in handy, since our previous tutorial seems to have gone obsolete. Chris has a few more blog posts lined up, so make sure you check his blog regularly.
