[J]ustin writes about soldering the ultra tiny SMD 32Khz, that comes with the kit, to the MSP430 Launchpad. He provides a step by step technique on how to get the tiny crystal onto the board with pictures. Soldering these parts can be quite intimidating to beginners – [J]ustin makes this easy – all that you need is some tape, a pair of tweezers and of course a soldering iron.

Update1[19thAug-2010]:
[J]ustin has updated his post with code here with both the MSPGCC and Non-MSPGCC versions.
I may probably never need the 32Khz crysal. But nice work none theless. Bookmarked.
I updated the page, it now has test code to verify that the crystal is working
Apply solder only to the pin’s tips, otherwise you may get a short in the tiny gaps close to the xtals case – you lose!
it was more difficult than my expectation : )
