[J]oby came up with an innovative way to emulate capacitive sensing using a tinfoil, a capacitor and a resistor using the Launchpad. The theory behind it is simple – charge the capacitor, then wait for it to discharge it through the resistor when you touch it. This will register as a voltage to drop to a port pin. The circuit seems to work pretty well and registers a touch every time, as he demonstrates in the video.

That’s neat. will it register a quick touch?
Yes. If you actually touch it, it registers very fast.
Cool! so your launch pad is powered by a battery if I read correctly?
Sorry I read wrong lol Never mind. Good work!
It can work powered by a battery. Don’t forget to use two foil plates, one connected to ground.
