This is a month old news, but many of our readers were not aware of the release. TI’s Tools Insider blog claims that support for Code Composer Studio on MacOS was the most requested question on the E2E forums. So here it is.

The beta release is based off of CCS v6.1.0 which is the most recent release for Windows and Linux.

There are a few points to keep in mind. Similar to the Linux version of Code Composer Studio, both the MSP-FET and MSP-FET430UIF work. The newer Launchpads such as MSP-EXP430F5529LP and MSP-EXP430FR5969 will also work ok.Older development kits like MSP-EXP430G2, eZ430 and the Chronos watch kit are not supported.

On the bright side, as long as you are using the beta version, CCS remains free, although it does mention “30 days remaining” at the bottom of the UI. If you have any suggestions on the release, please let TI know. They are actively working on it.
