June of this year, we wrote about the Wi-Fi Sensortag being available end of 2015. Looks like Texas Instruments lived up to their promise. They released a video showing the CC3200 Simplelink Senortag at CES 2016.
The SensorTag web page still shows the Wi-Fi version as “Coming Soon”. The Tag will probably be based around the CC3200 wireless microcontroller, which can also be found on the CC3200 Launchpad. From the video, it looks like the Wi-Fi version is a little longer possibly accommodating the larger CC3200 chip and maybe a higher capacity battery.
We’ll update the blog as soon as we have more details.
Hi,
Can anyone confirm/deny if that product has been abandoned? It’s a very loooooong time waiting.
No news unfortunately. However, I did see some CC3200 Wi-Fi sensortag mentions in the latest iOS application. Looks like they might be still testing it.
Digikey is selling the CC3200STK-WIFIMK looking exactly as 3200 WIFI sensortag, but not TI estore. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/texas-instruments/CC3200STK-WIFIMK/296-44086-ND/5994530
